Overview
DPS, the Dynamic Presentation System, aims to make the use of multiple displays in presentations such that individuals with even just basic computer usage skills can conduct these presentations without the wasted time of manually configuring a multiple display computer system and handling of multiple presentation applications at once. DPS can also optionally employ the use of a Personal Data Assistant (PDA) in order to conduct the presentation remotely. The system will allow the user to not only advance the slide presentation on one display, but may be used to display a history of slides across all available screens, display different presentations on different screens simultaneously, and more.
Projected Feature Set
- Support for use of Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 or earlier presentations..
- Automatic and effortless expansion to use every display the system has available. That is, if 6 displays are installed, DPS will automatically recognize this and use all of them appropriately.
- Use of multiple displays individually, as a group, or a mixture of the two.
- "Mirroring" across multiple displays, which shows the same visual on multiple displays simultaneously.
- "Chaining" across multiple displays, which allows the presenter to spread one presentation over these displays in succession. Advancement of this presentation will cause all displays to advance simultaneously. Also, a locking mechanism is provided to allow a presenter to lock one display on a slide while the other displays are free to advance.
- Copying an individual presentation slide to a different display. Also allows the slide to be appended to the end of a list of slides already opened on that display.
- Drawing feature which allows the presenter to create line drawings over the presentation.
- Client/server capability which provides the means by which a remote controlling application can utilize all of the functionality of the system over a network. Initially, an application for a Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 Personal Data Assistant (PDA) will be developed.
